Sponars Lake is named after Tony Sponar, who was responsible for the original development of Thredbo Village. Sponars Lake sits beneath the impressive winter skier accommodation, ‘Sponars Chalet’ and was formed, similarly to Rainbow Lake, with the damming of Diggers Creek many years ago. The lake provides a picturesque setting for an afternoons fishing and the crystal clear water ensures the fish have the upper hand. The lake holds an active population of both brown and rainbows, smallish, with the very occasional fish to 1kg. |
